Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was among the three people suspended by MLB for an altercation in Thursday night's clash with the San Diego Padres, according to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez.

Roberts was handed a one-game suspension while Padres skipper Mike Shildt was also suspended for one game, per Gonzalez. San Diego pitcher Robert Suarez received a three-game suspension as well.

Suarez elected to appeal his suspension, while Roberts and Shildt will both serve their suspensions on Friday.

In the top of the ninth inning during San Diego's 5-3 victory over Los Angeles on Thursday, Jack Little hit Fernando Tatis Jr. in the hand with a pitch. Roberts and Shildt exchanged words following the incident, which led to the benches clearing.

In the bottom of the same frame, Suarez hit Shohei Ohtani in the back during a 3-0 count with first base open. Ohtani signaled to his teammates to remain in the dugout and prevent another scuffle.

Suarez was ejected from the game.

Eight batters were hit by a pitch in the four-game series between Los Angeles and San Diego, while Tatis was also hit by the Dodgers for the third time in the past nine days.

“After a while, enough’s enough,” Shildt said after the game, per AJ Cassavell and Sonja Chen of MLB.com. “Intentional, unintentional, the fact of the matter is I took exception with it.”

Meanwhile, Roberts discussed his perspective on the situation while mentioning that Little was making his MLB debut.

“I’m taking starters out of the game, trying to get this game over with and get this kid a couple innings," Roberts said, via Cassavell and Chen. "And so that’s why, I felt, I took that personal. Because I understand the game, and I understand that it doesn’t feel good to get hit.”

The Dodgers ended up taking three of the four games during the latest series with their National League West rival, holding a 3.5-game lead over the Padres and San Francisco Giants for the No. 1 spot in the division.
