Rafael Devers Says There's 'Nothing' He'd Do Differently With Red Sox After Trade
Rafael Devers is not feeling any regrets for how his tenure with the Boston Red Sox ended.
The infielder and designated hitter was dealt on Sunday to the San Francisco Giants, ending a nine-year stint with the team. As he prepares to face his former club for the first time on Friday, Devers told reporters he gave his full effort in Boston and produced at a high level, so he does not have any regrets.

“Nothing," Devers said, per Sean McAdam of MassLive. "I put good numbers there and I always gave 100 percent.”
Devers experienced significant success with Boston, being named an All-Star three times, winning two Silver Sluggers and the 2018 World Series with the franchise. He has also been productive this season, hitting .272/.401/.504 with 15 home runs and 58 RBIs prior to being sent to San Francisco.
While his play on the field remained strong, tensions were rising between the slugger and the front office. He had spent his first eight seasons as the team's primary third baseman but the signing of Alex Bregman necessitated a move to designated hitter.
It looked like he could re-enter the field in May when first baseman Tristan Casas went down with a season-ending injury. However, Devers publicly refused to move and Red Sox owner John Henry notably flew to Kansas City to meet with the 28-year-old.
He also did not retake third base when Bregman went down with a notable injury. This tension opened the floodgates for a move and now he will likely play the remaining eight years of his contract with the Giants.
