Sean McVay 'Open-Minded' About Jalen Ramsey Trade amid Rams, Dolphins Rumors

Doric SamJun 18, 2025

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has made it clear that he would welcome a reunion with Miami Dolphins star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who is on the trading block this offseason.

While speaking to reporters after Rams minicamp on Tuesday, McVay maintained that he's open to re-acquiring Ramsey, but he admitted that completing a trade for the seven-time Pro Bowler could be a challenge.

"Usually, those are scenarios and situations that you have to have plans in place prior to executing some of the decisions that have occurred," McVay said. "Definitely don't want to rule anything out because we're always open-minded to onboarding and acquiring quality players and people like him if we're able to do that, but there would be some obstacles that are real that are in the place of maybe preventing that from occurring."

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported in April that the Dolphins and Ramsey mutually agreed to explore trade options this offseason. The decision immediately sparked speculation that he could be eyeing a return to Los Angeles, where he played from 2019 to 2022 and won a Super Bowl in the 2021 season.

Ramsey, who skipped mandatory minicamp with the Dolphins last week, is set to make $25.1 million in the 2025 season. There's a likelihood that his price tag could be what's causing the delay for teams who are interested in acquiring him.

The 30-year-old is still at the top of his game and can be a difference-maker in the right situation, so it wouldn't be a surprise if the Rams overlook the obstacles and do what it takes to bring him back to the West Coast.
