Red Sox Staffer Called Rafael Devers Situation 'Absolute S--tshow' After Giants Trade
Boston Red Sox fans aren't exactly thrilled with the trade of Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants over the weekend. It turns out that sentiment is shared by some in the organization as well.
According to Joon Lee of Yahoo Sports, "One staffer described the situation as 'an absolute s--t show.'"
Discontent appears to be simmering within the organization. Lee reported that chief baseball officer Craig Breslow "has grown increasingly insulated. Multiple sources within the organization describe a front office losing cohesion. Staffers who helped build four championship teams—veterans of the Theo Epstein, Ben Cherington, Dave Dombrowski and Chaim Bloom regimes—now feel shut out of the operation. The collaborative spirit that once defined Red Sox baseball operations has frayed."

Lee also recounted a recent Zoom meeting in which Red Sox scouting supervisor Craig Moesche incorrectly believed the call had ended.
"Thanks, Bres, you f--king stiff," he reportedly said on the call, two team sources told Lee. Breslow fired him.
The Red Sox have made a habit of letting their best players go in recent years. Mookie Betts was infamously traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, while Xander Bogaerts walked in free agency a few years later. The trio of Betts, Bogaerts and Devers helped lead Boston to a 2018 World Series title and was seen as the future of the franchise.
Instead, the Red Sox have gone in a different direction. Both outside of the organization and apparently within it as well, in certain corners, that direction hasn't been a popular one.
