Irsay will become the 20th member of the Colts Ring of Honor. The ceremony is set to take place during the team's 2025 regular-season opener against the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 7.
Irsay died last month at the age of 65. He owned the Colts since 1997 following the death of his father, Robert Irsay.
This week, the Colts transferred ownership of the franchise to Irsay's three daughters: Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt and Kalen Jackson. They collectively released a statement on their father's induction into the Ring of Honor, saying:
"There was no bigger advocate for the Colts, the NFL, the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana than our dad, Jim Irsay. It's only fitting that he now joins the other amazing Colts legends in our Ring of Honor who contributed so much to our franchise and our community over the past four decades."
During Irsay's tenure as Colts owner, Indianapolis reached the playoffs 16 times, won 10 division titles and reached the Super Bowl twice. To conclude the 2006 season, the Colts beat the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI to win their first and only championship since moving from Baltimore to Indianapolis in 1984.
From 2002 to 2014, the Colts reached the playoffs 12 times in 13 seasons, led by Pro Football Hall of Famers such as quarterback Peyton Manning, running back Edgerrin James, wide receiver Marvin Harrison, defensive end Dwight Freeney, head coach Tony Dungy and general manager Bill Polian.
While the New England Patriots are often regarded as the team of the 2000s, the Colts' 115 regular-season wins from 2000 to 2009 were the most ever in a single decade before the Pats broke the record in the 2010s.
Irsay will be the second owner inducted into the Colts Ring of Honor, joining his father, Robert, who was the inaugural inductee in 1996.
The announcement of Irsay's Ring of Honor induction was made on what would have been his 66th birthday.
