Patriots' Drake Maye Praises 'Locker Mate' Stefon Diggs as an 'Awesome Teammate'
There has been some offseason controversy regarding New England Patriots wideout Stefon Diggs this offseason, but so far his new quarterback is a fan.
"He seems like an awesome teammate," Drake Maye told reporters Monday. "He's my locker mate, one down from beside me. We talk all the time. He's a veteran in this league. He's made a lot of plays, played in a lot of big-time games. Just an awesome voice for the receiver room, for this offense. He's played in some playoff games. He’s had some big games. Once he recovers [from his torn ACL], and he's getting back out there, I'm looking forward to being able to throw him some footballs. It's always good having a guy like that on your team."

Head coach Mike Vrabel echoed a similar sentiment.
"Good," he told reporters when asked about how Diggs is doing at minicamp as he transitions to a new franchise. "I mean, he's tried to figure out where everything is and what his role is, making sure that as we add those situations—the third down, the no-huddle, the red zone—that he's staying up on it. He's working hard in his rehab and when he can—there's certain drills he can be out there and certain drills he won't be. But I think he's engaged and I like his energy."
The Patriots, in an effort to add more dynamic weapons for Maye in 2025, signed the 31-year-old wideout to a three-year, $63.5 million deal in the offseason, with $25 million guaranteed. The hope is that Diggs—a four-time Pro Bowler and one-time first-team All-Pro selection—will recover from his ACL tear and add an explosive, reliable option to the team's passing game, something it lacked during Maye's rookie campaign.
Maye certainly seems to believe in his new teammate.
