Carlos Alcaraz vs. Jannik Sinner
2 of 2
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have faced off 11 times, and while the head-to-head matchup is close (Alcaraz leads 7-4), the Spaniard has won their last four encounters.
Since the 2024 Cincinnati Open, Sinner has won 47 of 49 matches, with both losses coming to Alcaraz. With that history in mind, Alcaraz enters as a slight favorite (-115) over Sinner (-110) ahead of Sunday's matchup (Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook).
The Spaniard has been Sinner's Achilles' heel as of late, but on Sunday, there's every reason to expect that'll change.
The top-ranked Italian has yet to drop a set this tournament, losing just three total games behind his serve.
Several formidable opponents this week, such as Andrey Rublev, Jiri Lehecka, and Alexander Bublik, all needed 27 minutes just to win their first game against the 23-year-old.
Meanwhile, 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic couldn't match the Italian's aggression and consistency.
It's understandable why Alcaraz causes so much trouble for the three-time major champion.
The No. 2 seed is the most athletic player on the tour, possesses nearly the same amount of firepower from the baseline, and has developed a near-perfect serve while dominating at the net.
However, Sinner has been near-perfect this week, and if he can come out with his baseline aggression, there's no reason to suggest he can't change the narrative, especially considering he's significantly more consistent as rallies intensify.
Prediction: Jannik Sinner over Carlos Alcaraz in five sets.
