UConn vs. Kansas Reportedly Set for 2025-26 CBB Schedule as Part of Home-and-Home

Two of the most iconic programs in men's college basketball history are set to clash in a home-and-home series over the next two seasons.

According to Jon Rothstein of College Hoops Today, Kansas will host UConn on Dec. 2, 2025. Then, at some point during the 2026-27 season, UConn will serve as the host for a rematch with Kansas.

Next season will mark the fifth all-time meeting between the Huskies and Jayhawks with Kansas holding a 4-0 advantage.

The most recent UConn vs. Kansas matchup occurred during the 2023-24 season when the No. 5 Jayhawks and No. 4 Huskies met in Lawrence, Kansas, in what was one of the premier games of the year.

Kansas held on for a 69-65 victory, although UConn got the last laugh that year, as it went on to win its second consecutive national championship.

Before the 2023 game, UConn and Kansas had also faced off in 1995, 1997, and 2016, with the Jayhawks prevailing each time.

UConn and Kansas are among the most decorated men's college basketball programs of all time, as they both rank highly in terms of all time titles.

The Huskies are tied with North Carolina for the third-most national championships in history with six, while the Jayhawks have the seventh-most national titles with four.

Prior to Florida winning it all last season, Kansas and UConn combined to win three national titles in a row. In 2022, the Jayhawks won their first national championship since 2008, and the Huskies won two in a row in 2023 and 2024, becoming the first back-to-back champs since Florida in 2006 and 2007.

Adding to the intrigue of the upcoming home-and-home is the fact that UConn and Kansas are guided by two of the top coaches in college basketball.

Hurley has spent the past seven years at UConn following stints at Wagner and Rhode Island. He has guided the Huskies to the NCAA tournament in five consecutive seasons, posting a 165-69 record at UConn and winning Naismith Coach of the Year honors in 2024.

Self is set to enter his 23rd season as the Jayhawks' head coach, compiling an impressive 609-148 mark.

He has taken Kansas to the Final Four on four occasions, winning two national titles along the way. Self was also named the Naismith Coach of the Year in 2012 and the Associated Press Coach of the Year twice, in both 2009 and 2016.

Given the success of both UConn and Kansas and the fact that they haven't faced each other much over the years, their meetings during the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons figure to be some of the most highly anticipated games in college basketball.
