Gabe Davis Reportedly Visiting Steelers amid Aaron Rodgers, Jonnu Smith Rumors
The Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly are still seeking roster improvements while waiting for a decision from free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers and pursuing a trade for Miami Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Steelers will host former Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Gabe Davis for a visit in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Davis signed a three-year, $39 million contract with the Jaguars before the 2024 season, but he was limited to just 10 games after suffering a season-ending torn meniscus.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Jags opted to release him last month, and Spotrac noted that they will be paying him $11.5 million in 2025 to play for someone else. ESPN's Field Yates speculated that a team would be able to sign him for a veteran's minimum salary of $1.17 million, similar to what the Steelers did with quarterback Russell Wilson last offseason following his release from the Denver Broncos.
Pittsburgh and Miami engaged in trade discussions for Smith after he expressed interest in reworking his contract with the Dolphins. However, his agent Drew Rosenhaus said Smith "would definitely like to stay in Miami," and Schefter reported that the Steelers are "not expected to trade for" him.
If healthy, Davis would be a solid alternative for Pittsburgh. He put together the best season of his career with the Bills in 2022, finishing with career highs of 48 catches for 836 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Steelers are still facing questions over who will be throwing the ball to their receivers in 2025, as there have been minimal updates regarding Rodgers signing with them since the start of OTAs. Pittsburgh is set to hold mandatory minicamp next week from June 10-12, so it will be interesting to see the team's plan under center while Rodgers is still mulling his future.
