Novak Djokovic Reacts to 100th Win at Roland-Garros, '101 Victories Sounds Better'
Novak Djokovic made history Monday, but he's already looking ahead.
"It's a very pretty number, but 101 victories sounds better," he said after defeating Cameron Norrie to pick up his 100th career win at Roland-Garros, per Jerome Coombe of the ATP Tour's official website.
"I will continue to search for another victory—it's clearly not finished for me here. I'm very honored to make history in this sport, which has given me everything in my life."
Djokovic handled Norrie with relative ease in a 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 victory to reach the quarterfinals in the event for a 16th consecutive year.
Roland-Garros legend Rafael Nadal, who won the tournament 14 times, is the only other player to win 100 times in the event. Djokovic is a three-time champion and just three wins away from adding a fourth title to his already legendary resume.
To say Djokovic has looked dialed in during this year's tournament would be a massive understatement.
After all, he is yet to lose a set while dispatching Mackenzie Mcdonald in the first round, Corentin Moutet in the second round, Filip Misolic in the third round and Norrie in the fourth round.
However, things might get much more difficult from here considering he will face Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals. He is 8-5 all-time against his next opponent and had to retire in the semifinal of this year's Australian Open in their most recent meeting.
If Djokovic finds a way to get his 101st career win at Roland Garros in Wednesday's matchup, he could be looking at a semifinal showdown against top-seeded Jannik Sinner.
