Re-Drafting Every Team's Worst Draft Pick of the Century 😡
"When you sit up there and say something like he went into a meeting unprepared, like, dude, Shedeur Sanders? Who has had six different coordinators, who has still functioned and leveled up every time we brought somebody new in," he added. "You’re going to tell me he had on headphones? Anybody knows my son understands he's a professional. He's gonna go into a meeting with headphones on?"
Sanders also called out the "foolish stuff" that was said.
"It did hurt," Sanders said, h/t ESPN. "But the Bible says God uses the foolish things to confound the wise. There was some foolish stuff that went on, but that gave them something that they needed."
Shedeur was viewed by many as a potential first-round pick heading into the 2025 draft, but the quarterback slid to the fifth round before the Cleveland Browns traded up to select him with the No. 144 overall choice.
CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones said sources told him Shedeur "more or less sandbagged" interviews with teams that he didn't wanted to be drafted by.
One longtime NFL assistant coach told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero that his meeting with the former Buffaloes signal-caller was "the worst formal interview I've ever been in in my life."
There were also reports of Shedeur wearing headphones and answering FaceTime calls during the pre-draft process.
While the 23-year-old fell to Day 3 of the draft, he'll have an opportunity to compete for a Week 1 starting role on a Browns team that also has Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and third-round rookie Dillon Gabriel vying for the top spot on the depth chart.
Still, Deion fired back at criticism surrounding his son's draft interviews on Friday.
