Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman Reportedly Eyed by MLB Scouts Ahead of 2025 Trade Deadline
Boston Red Sox reliever Aroldis Chapman is drawing attention from MLB scouts ahead of the 2025 trade deadline, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
If the Red Sox slip further out of the AL East race—they currently sit in fourth place—a trade involving Chapman could be on the table.
The 37-year-old closer is posting a 1.88 ERA with 32 strikeouts, a 1.00 WHIP and nine saves across 26 appearances this season.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
In his first year in Boston, the right-hander has been a bright spot for a Red Sox team that currently sits at 29-32, hovering around .500.
With Boston 8.5 games behind the AL East-leading New York Yankees, the club could be poised to shake things up ahead of the trade deadline in hopes of salvaging a season that hasn’t lived up to expectations following a splashy offseason.
In addition to Chapman, the Red Sox brought in third baseman Alex Bregman and pitcher Garrett Crochet, hoping the veteran additions would help push the team to the next level. But the group has yet to find consistent success.
If Boston does explore trade options, Chapman could bring back valuable pieces—particularly at starting pitcher and infield depth.
The MLB trade deadline is set for July 31 at 6 p.m. ET.
