Novak Djokovic Will Coast, Jannik Sinner Should Get By First Challenge

Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic has begun his quest for a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam in dominant fashion, without dropping a set in his opening two matches.

That pattern should continue in the third round when the Serbian plays Austrian qualifier Filip Misolic.

Misolic will not be able to overpower Djokovic, and while he can keep things competitive with his consistency, picking up more than a set seems extremely unlikely.

Jannik Sinner has been just as dominant as Djokovic, coasting to two routine straight-set victories.

Sinner has won 16 consecutive Grand Slam matches but is expected to face his first real challenge at Roland-Garros against Jiri Lehecka.

Sinner is undefeated against the Czech and has yet to drop a set in their three appearances.

Lehecka can grab a set if he can serve well and play offense early on.

However, Lehecka may find it challenging to match Sinner's level of physicality as the match progresses.

Joao Fonseca Will Continue Impressive Roland-Garros Run

2025 French Open - Day Five
Joao Fonseca

There is no more exciting match in the men's draw on Saturday than Jack Draper against Joao Fonseca.

In their sole matchup at Indian Wells, Draper defeated the Brazilian wunderkind, winning 6-4, 6-0.

However, achieving that result once again will be much more difficult.

Fonseca has been dominant so far, moving through the first two rounds without dropping a set.

Furthermore, it is well known that clay is the 18-year-old's favorite and best surface. In fact, just months ago, he won his maiden ATP Tour title at the Argentina Open.

Both players enter in nearly equal form, and it is likely that this match will go to five sets to determine a winner.

Fonseca will have massive crowd support behind him, and the longer and more physical this match becomes, the better his chances are of moving on.

Coco Gauff, Madison Keys Will Advance, Jessica Pegula Will Head Home

2025 French Open - Day Five
Jessica Pegula

Despite playing far from her best, Coco Gauff has managed to reach the third round with few issues.

The 2022 runner-up has been struggling to serve for a few matches now but has fared favorably against two inexperienced and inconsistent opponents.

While Marie Bouzkova is much more experienced and consistent than Gauff's two opponents, she did enter Roland-Garros with a leg injury and has at certain moments displayed fitness struggles, making the prospects of an upset extremely unlikely.

In another headlining matchup, Madison Keys will take on Sofia Kenin in an all-American showdown of one-time major champions.

Kenin has been impressive in her first two matches, winning at least 70 percent of points on first serve while hitting 49 winners.

However, Keys has been even better, winning 14 of her 16 service games while remaining in incredibly consistent form.

Keys has committed just 28 unforced errors in her first two matches and has been teeing off on her opponents' second serves.

Unlike Gauff and Keys, the third round will mark the end for Jessica Pegula.

Pegula has served really well throughout the first two rounds, winning at least 74 percent of points on first serve in each match.

Unlike her previous opponents, Marketa Vondrousova plays a strong return game, and if she can limit the unforced errors, this is her opportunity to advance.
