Jayden Reed Says 'People Misinterpreted' Rumor He Was Assured of Being Packers' WR1
After the Green Bay Packers took wide receivers Matthew Golden and Savion Williams in the NFL draft, there were reports that Jayden Reed was assured by general manager Brian Gutekunst of his standing as the team's WR1.
On Wednesday, Reed said those reports were "misinterpreted."
"A lot of people misinterpreted that," he told reporters. "I hired a new agent and we talked about it before even the draft really. He said that he was going to talk to the front office and everybody here and catch up and make sure everybody was on the same page. As a new client, he told me the way he was going to do it, and he did it. I don't know how it got out, because it was supposed to be confidential, but that's how it goes sometimes. People get a different perception, they make their own perception, which is okay. That's how it goes sometimes."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported after the draft that the Packers taking Golden and Williams "will not affect Reed’s status as its top receiver." It seemed like Reed was set to once again be Green Bay's WR1, but it turns out he'll have to compete for that spot.
Reed had a strong sophomore season in the NFL, pulling in 55 receptions for 857 yards and six touchdowns. While he had two fewer touchdowns in 2024, he increased his yards-per-catch average by more than three yards.
If he continues his natural progression, he should be able to solidify his spot as the team's top receiver.
