Tyreek Hill Eyes Noah Lyles Race, Wants to Do Track Over Flag Football at LA Olympics

Scott PolacekMay 28, 2025

Tyreek Hill has his eyes on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, but maybe not for the sport that one would assume.

Hill told reporters Wednesday he is more interested in participating in the 2028 Games in track than flag football. He also said he has scheduled a "warm up" 100M race on June 13 before he then looks for a race against United States track star Noah Lyles.

The idea of NFL players participating in the Olympics has generated plenty of traction since the league announced earlier this month they will be allowed to participate in the flag football competition.

It has inspired a variety of responses with Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson telling ESPN's Brooke Pryor it would be a "dream" to participate, while Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase and Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown seemed less optimistic about the idea with the latter saying he would not play.

Hill seemed to be one of the notable wide receivers most intrigued by the idea:

But he has also been intrigued by the idea of racing Lyles for some time.

In February, the Miami Dolphins star and track star told People Magazine they were planning to race each other at some point during the spring or summer.

The revelation came after Hill said on social media "sign the contract and lock in that 50 yard race" and Lyles held up a sign that said "Tyreek could never" after he won a fourth straight 60m final at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix:

They continued their back-and-forth on social media:

While Hill is widely considered one of the fastest players in the league, defeating an Olympic gold medalist on the track would be quite the accomplishment. Lyles took home the gold in the men's 100m race during the 2024 Paris Olympics, which gave him the title of world's fastest man.

But it seems like Hill wants to take that title from him more than he wants to chase gold in the flag football competition.
