French Open 2025 Thursday Schedule and Predictions for Roland-Garros Bracket

Nicholas NathansonMay 28, 2025

The lineup for Thursday is absolutely stacked.

Top-ranked Jannik Sinner will face Frenchman Richard Gasquet, who’s set to retire following the French Open.

About an hour later, 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic will also embrace the role of the villain he's so used to when he takes on Corentin Moutet.

But the real thriller comes in the last match of the day on Court Philippe-Chartier, where 38-year-old Frenchman Gael Monfils will square off against No. 5 seed Jack Draper.

In the women's draw, World No. 2 Coco Gauff will play 18-year-old Tereza Valentova, who, just a year ago, won the junior Grand Slam final at Roland-Garros, while No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula will face 24-year-old American Ann Li.

From scheduling to ultimate predictions, keep reading to find out everything you need to know ahead of tomorrow's play.

Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic Will Move On With Few Challenges

3 of 5
2025 French Open - Day Two
Jannik Sinner

Jannik Sinner faces the tall test of 38-year-old Richard Gasquet, who is set to retire following the 2025 French Open and has all of the crowd support behind him.

However, the Frenchman is nowhere near his prime to challenge Sinner.

Gasquet's serve and groundstrokes may keep him in the match, but Sinner's versatility and ability to thrive in the match's most physical moments will give him full control.

Similar to Sinner, Novak Djokovic will embrace the villain role when he takes on home favorite Corentin Moutet in the second round.

Apart from his impressive dropshot and never-ending dedication to every point, Moutet lacks the overall tools to significantly challenge Djokovic.

Gael Monfils Will Stun Jack Draper

4 of 5
2025 French Open - Day Three
Gael Monfils

World No. 5 Jack Draper will enter his second-round matchup against Gael Monfils as the overwhelming favorite.

Monfils enters on the heels of the most improbable victory in his 20+ year career: a two-set comeback against Hugo Dellien, which took all of three hours and thirty-six minutes of physically grueling tennis to accomplish.

The 38-year-old has historically struggled against top five players in Grand Slam matches, losing 13 of 15.

However, if Monfils can stay durable throughout the entire match, the sheer physicality might be too much for Draper—who's had his own struggles— to endure.

Draper's key to victory will be to come out with baseline aggression and limit long points, but even then, with the Court Philippe-Chatrier crowd behind him, Monfils is more than capable of pulling off the upset in what I expect to be another four- or potentially five-set thriller.

Coco Gauff Faces Another Easy Match

5 of 5
French Open Tennis Tournament. Roland-Garros 2025.
Coco Gauff

Coco Gauff has been playing brilliant tennis on clay courts lately.

The 21-year-old American entered the French Open after reaching the final in back-to-back WTA Masters 1000 clay events (Madrid Open, Italian Open), defeating top talent such as Iga Swiatek, Mirra Andreeva, and Emma Raducanu.

Gauff is expected to face significant troubles as the draw shortens, considering her continuous double-fault struggles.

However, those challenges are not expected to come now, and like her first-round match, Tereza Valentova's inexperience with Grand Slam main draws and overall inconsistency will pave the way to a straight-set victory for Coco Gauff.
