Aaron Rodgers Says He'd 'Probably' Retire as a Packer If GB Asked Him in the Future
All signs point to Aaron Rodgers signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, but the quarterback hasn't ruled out officially returning to his former team for the end of his career.
On the YNK podcast (h/t CBS Sports' John Breech), Rodgers said he'd "probably" sign a one-day contract and retire with the Green Bay Packers if the option was presented to him.
"There's a lot of love for me and how I feel about the team," Rodgers said. "If I do or I don't [retire as a Packer], I don't think it should make a difference, I'm not sure yet. If they approached me about it, I probably would."

If Rodgers were to retire with the Packers, it would likely just be ceremonial. Green Bay already has Jordan Love under center, and a 41-year-old Rodgers wouldn't be signed to compete with him..
Still, the Packers could sign him to a one-day contract to give him the chance to end his career where he started it. It could also help Rodgers make amends with the fan base after a messy exit in 2023.
Rodgers' departure wasn't pretty, but he still had the best years of his career in Green Bay. He won four MVPs and led the Packers to a Super Bowl, establishing himself as an all-time great in NFL history.
When he left for the New York Jets after the 2022 season, it left a sour taste in Packers fans' mouths, but with the passing of time, the memory of Rodgers in Green Bay should be a good one for Packers fans.
If Rodgers is awarded the chance to retire with the team, it could speed up the healing process.
For now, Rodgers has a decision to make for the 2025 season. The Steelers have been patient as they await his decision, and president and owner Art Rooney II said earlier this week that they're willing to wait "a little while longer."
If Pittsburgh isn't the place for Rodgers, perhaps Green Bay will give him the chance to retire with the Packers.
