Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner could not have asked for easier draws
3 of 4
Both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner begin their 2025 French Open campaigns tomorrow.
And neither could have asked for an easier first-round match.
In Sinner's case, Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech has the ability to stay in the match given his serve; however, that's where things end.
Rinderknech lacks the athleticism and physicality to disrupt Sinner, and the Italian will likely weigh him down with his versatile play.
Meanwhile, for Alcaraz, Giulio Zeppieri does not offer many threats to the Spaniard, and given the Spaniard's current form and motivation, this is expected to be an effortless victory.
Iga Swiatek set for smooth start, Badosa-Osaka showdown adds early intrigue
4 of 4
Four-time French Open champion Iga Swiatek opens up her campaign with a favorable first-round matchup against Rebecca Sramkova.
Swiatek faced Sramkova in the second round of the 2025 Australian Open, limiting her opponent to just two total games.
While Swiatek is not necessarily in top form, it's expected that she will face few challenges against an opponent who is nowhere near her in terms of consistency, athleticism, and raw firepower.
With little pressure on this first-round match, Swiatek may ultimately use this as a test to see where her overall game is and how she can improve going forward.
However, other players, like Naomi Osaka, face more difficult challenges.
The four-time Grand Slam champion will begin her French Open campaign against No. 10 seed Paula Badosa.
While Badosa was forced to miss the Madrid Open and Italian Open due to a back injury, she's made it to at least the third round in four consecutive appearances here in France.
Meanwhile, Osaka has never achieved much success at the French Open but is just a year removed from nearly defeating Iga Swiatek here and is expected to significantly challenge Badosa.
This one is expected to go the distance, with Badosa just doing enough to win.
