Brock Purdy Wants Fishing Boat, Reveals Advice from Teammates for 49ers Contract Talks

Adam WellsMay 22, 2025

Now that his $265 million contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers is official, quarterback Brock Purdy revealed the advice he received from several of his teammates about the process of going into a negotiation for the first time.

Appearing on NFL Network's The Insiders (starts at 1:25 mark), Purdy explained that players like tight end George Kittle, linebacker Fred Warner and edge-rusher Nick Bosa told him to "keep going after it" with his offseason work and allow his agent to handle all of the talks with the team.

"Just focus on what you can control, and don't get caught up in the little things, and taking things personal, and being dramatic with some stuff," Purdy said. "Allow them to handle it. Keep being who you are, and have faith that it'll get done."

Despite having a new contract in hand, Purdy isn't planning to make an extravagant first purchase. With that said, the 25-year-old did reveal he's had an eye on buying a bass fishing boat ever since he was a kid.

This is the first time in years that the Niners haven't had major contract drama. They extended Purdy after also getting new deals done with Kittle and Warner.

Having an offseason that's not defined by contractual issues might be a deliberate choice for the Niners. They went through a lot of drama last year with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and offensive tackle Trent Williams. Even though both players eventually got what they wanted, it took until late August and early September to get them done.

With their key players extended, the Niners can now focus on preparations for the 2025 season when OTAs begin on May 27.
