MLB Announces Return of Players' Weekend for 2025 Season, Will Be Held August 15-17
After a successful reintroduction last season, MLB is bringing back Players' Weekend again in 2025.
MLB announced on Wednesday that players' weekend will take place from Aug. 15-17, allowing players throughout the league to showcase their off-field interests, causes and people who influenced their lives.

Players' weekend was originally introduced in 2017 with the league allowing the use of nicknames on the back of jerseys and relaxed rules for equipment, including cleats, batting gloves and wristbands.
That iteration of players' weekend lasted through the 2019 season. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, it wasn't included as part of the schedule.
MLB kept players' weekend on hiatus for three years after 2020 before bringing it back last season. The reimagined version of it didn't allow for player nicknames on jerseys or the special uniforms many teams used.
Instead, it became a three-day event with a different aspect from players' lives featured each day. The first day was "fun," second day was "causes" and finally "appreciation" on the last day.
MLB allows players to auction off items used during players' weekend with proceeds benefiting charities of their choosing.
Also like last year, the 2025 players' weekend schedule will conclude with the annual Little League Classic game from Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The matchup will feature the Seattle Mariners taking on the New York Mets.
The Mets previously played in the Little League Classic in 2018, defeating the Philadelphia Phillies. The Mariners are making their debut in the game that overlaps with the Little League World Series.
