Justin Jefferson 'At a Loss for Words' After NFL Passes LA Olympic Flag Football Vote
The NFL gave its players an opportunity to chase their golden dreams Tuesday when it announced team owners voted in favor of allowing them to participate in the flag football competition during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, and Justin Jefferson can't believe it.
"To be honest, I'm at a loss for words," the Minnesota Vikings wide receiver said, per ESPN's Brooke Pryor.
"To think about the chance of playing in the Olympics and getting a gold medal, it's a dream."

"It's an incredible honor for any athlete to represent their country in the Olympics, which is the pinnacle of global sport," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said. "I know first-hand that the inclusion of flag football in the Olympics has sparked a tremendous amount of excitement among NFL players interested in the chance to compete for their country on the world stage."
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Tuesday's vote was unanimous, easily surpassing the 24 of 32 team owners threshold that was needed.
Tyler Dragon of USA Today noted the flag football competition at the 2028 Games will feature six men's teams and six women's teams with 10 players per side. The games will be a five-on-five format, and the NFL players will compete for spots on rosters with a tryout or qualification process in advance of the Olympics.
That doesn't leave a ton of spots available for the wide receiver position in what figures to be quite the competition.
Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase, Amon-Ra St. Brown, CeeDee Lamb, Tyreek Hill, A.J. Brown, Malik Nabers and many more could be candidates, and that's not even factoring in current college players such as Jeremiah Smith or Ryan Williams who could be competing for spots by 2028.
But Jefferson is as well-positioned as anyone to make an Olympic team.
After all, he's just 25 years old and arguably the top receiver in the league with a resume that includes an Offensive Player of the Year, two First-Team All-Pro selections and four Pro Bowl nods through his first five seasons.
The Vikings star has 1,400 or more receiving yards in four of his five seasons, and he even surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in 2023 when injuries limited him to 10 games.
As long as he keeps stacking numbers like that, Jefferson will have the inside track for an Olympic spot.
