Patriots Reveal Bears Trade Talks Before Henderson Pick in Video from 2025 NFL Draft
The New England Patriots ended up taking Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson with the No. 38 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft but only after they deliberated on multiple trade offers.
New England released a behind-the-scenes video that featured scenes from the draft on Saturday, and part of it included the revelation the Chicago Bears offered the No. 39 pick and a seventh-rounder to move into the No. 38 slot (58:30 mark).

As ESPN's Mike Reiss explained, "the assumption" is the NFC North team wanted to select Henderson as well.
That wasn't the only proposal, as the Patriots' brass also considered a trade for No. 38 that would have given them picks Nos. 58 and 79 in addition to a 2025 third-rounder. Reiss noted the offer "possibly" could have come from the Houston Texans.
Chicago wanting to move up with Henderson still available comes as no surprise, as Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reported last month the Bears "made aggressive attempts to trade up" in the second round with "significant interest" in the Buckeyes playmaker.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler also reported earlier this month that Chicago attempted to trade up in the second round, adding "knowing Chicago's legwork on running backs, Ohio State's TreVeyon Henderson would have made a lot of sense in that regard."
The Bears ended up staying at No. 39 and selecting Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III.
Chicago could have used a running back such as Henderson. After all, it revamped its offensive line this offseason with the additions of Joe Thuney, Drew Dalman and Jonah Jackson and already had a number of impressive pass-catchers in DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, Cole Kmet and Colston Loveland.
D'Andre Swift is a solid running back, but the Bears offense is missing an explosive playmaker in the backfield who could make life easier on Caleb Williams as the quarterback enters his second season.
Henderson would have fit that bill, but he will instead compete with Rhamondre Stevenson for immediate playing time on the Patriots as the AFC East team looks to turn things around during head coach Mike Vrabel's first season.
