Rey Mysterio Undergoes Surgery, WWE Rumors on Karrion Kross Promo, Liv Morgan's Future
Bleacher Report catches you up on the latest news from the WWE Universe.
Rey Mysterio Undergoes Surgery on Torn Adductor
WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio announced Monday that he was about to undergo surgery for the injury he suffered on SmackDown the night before WrestleMania 41.
Speaking on his Instagram Stories (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), Mysterio said he was at Andrews Sports Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama, and he was about to undergo surgery on a torn adductor muscle.
Mysterio, 50, was supposed to face El Grande Americano at WrestleMania, but on the final SmackDown before WrestleMania, he got injured during a six-man tag team match.
In the midst of Mysterio, Rey Fenix and Dragon Lee facing Alpha Academy, Mysterio appeared to get hurt while getting pulled out of the ring.
He sat on the outside and got checked out by medical personnel for the remainder of the match before getting helped to the back once it ended.
The next day, it was announced that Mysterio was not medically cleared, which resulted in Fenix replacing him as El Grande Americano's opponent on Night 1 of WrestleMania 41.
El Grande Americano went on to win the match by cheating, as he inserted a metal plate into his mask and headbutted Fenix.
With Mysterio out of action for the foreseeable future, it may land on Lee's shoulders to be the de facto leader of the LWO until he returns.
Kross' Viral Promo Reportedly Wasn't Scripted
Karrion Kross cut a passionate promo on WWE's WrestleMania 41 recap show on YouTube, and more details have now emerged regarding the viral moment.
According to Fightful Select (h/t Carrier), Kross' promo was both a work and a shoot, and it was unscripted, meaning Kross was responsible for the contents.
While Kross was reportedly given carte blanche, Fightful noted that WWE made the conscious decision to add his segment to a video that was already uploaded due to the expectation that it would "create attention."
Kross was not part of the WrestleMania card, but he played a role in the match between AJ Styles and Logan Paul after making it clear to Styles for weeks that it was paramount he win the match.
During the closing stages of the match, Kross offered Styles a pair of brass knuckles. Styles refused and Paul took advantage by beating The Phenomenal One.
In his post-show promo, Kross addressed the storyline between him, Styles and Paul, but he also added some real-life elements, including an anecdote about WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg telling him in 2021 that he could get ahead by being a "good soldier."
Kross suggested that being a good soldier got him nowhere since he wasn't part of the WrestleMania card in his hometown of Las Vegas.
He ended the promo by saying, "guy with the suit and tie in the truck, go f--k yourself," which led to plenty of speculation regarding whether Kross may have gone too far and gotten himself into trouble.
That doesn't appear to be the case, though, as Kross was involved in backstage segments on Raw with Styles and Sami Zayn the past two weeks.
According to Fightful, multiple WWE Superstars reached out to Kross after the promo to praise him and thank him for bringing up some real-life concerns regarding WWE.
Time will tell if the promo leads to anything more for Kross, but based on the attention he drew with it, there could be bigger and better things in his future.
Liv Morgan Movie Project Reportedly to Be Revealed Next Week
The movie role Liv Morgan alluded to during this week's episode of Raw will reportedly be revealed next week.
According to PWInsider Elite (h/t Carrier), next week is set to be a "big week" for Morgan due to the unveiling of the film she is involved with.
While there isn't yet any specific information out there regarding the movie, PWInsider noted that she is expected to have a "major role" in it.
At WrestleMania 41, Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez dropped the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships to Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria, but they won them back the next night on Raw.
That made Liv and Raquel the first duo to ever hold the WWE women's tag team titles together on four separate occasions.
On this week's Raw, Morgan had a backstage conversation with SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis, who was filling in for Adam Pearce. Aldis confirmed that everything was set for Liv in terms of getting time off to be part of a movie.
Outside of WWE, Morgan has relatively limited acting experience, but she isn't a complete novice.
In 2022, she had a guest role in an episode of the Chucky television series, and she was also in the 2023 movie The Kill Room.
It sounds as though Morgan's latest role could be her biggest one yet, making her the latest in a long line of pro wrestlers to enjoy success in Hollywood as well.
