Shedeur Sanders Says 'Some of the Memes' Were 'Funny' About Pre-Draft Interview Rumors
Shedeur Sanders had a lighthearted reaction to rumors surrounding his pre-draft interview performance potentially affecting his slide in the 2025 NFL draft.
Sanders said "some of the memes" were "funny" in a video shared by Well Off Media on Monday (33:50 mark).
While there was buzz surrounding the Colorado quarterback potentially being selected with a first-round pick leading up to the draft, he didn't hear his name called on Day 1 or Day 2.
Eventually, the Cleveland Browns traded up in the fifth round to draft him with the No. 144 overall pick.
CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones reported Saturday that Sanders "more or less sandbagged" pre-draft interviews with teams that he didn't want to be picked by, which "rubbed some teams the wrong way."
Todd McShay of The Ringer also reported Sanders "didn’t have a great interview" with New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll in a private visit leading up to the draft (h/t Dan Benton of Giants Wire).
New York was searching for a long-term answer at quarterback, with some belief that it might choose Sanders after trading back into the first round on Thursday night. Instead, the Giants selected Ole Miss signal-caller Jaxson Dart with the No. 25 overall pick.
Sanders will now look to compete for a Week 1 starting job in Cleveland as he prepares to enter a training camp battle with Dillon Gabriel, Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett.
