Dart was the second quarterback chosen after Miami's Cam Ward went to the Tennessee Titans at No. 1 overall. Big Blue notably passed on Colorado's Shedeur Sanders to make the move.

The 6'2", 223-pound prospect was the third quarterback and 57th overall player on the final B/R NFL Scouting Department big board.

Here's a look at reaction to the pick on social media, which appeared to be mixed.

Last season, Dart completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns and six interceptions. He threw for 329.2 yards per game and 10.8 yards per attempt while running for 495 yards and three scores.

The 21-year-old, who was born and raised in Utah, was also first-team All-SEC last year. Last year's Ole Miss team went 10-3 overall (5-3 SEC) capped by a 52-20 win over Duke in the Gator Bowl.

Dart played 45 games over four years for USC (2021) and then Ole Miss (2022-2024) after transferring. For his career, Dart completed 65.2 percent of his passes for 11,970 yards, 81 touchdowns (27 interceptions) and 9.2 yards per attempt.

He's a proven winner and productive player, and now he's a member of the Giants, who hope that he's the long-term solution at QB.

Leading into the draft, multiple teams were reported to have interest in Dart, including the Giants and Cleveland Browns, per ESPN's Jordan Raanan, who noted the possibility of a trade-up from the beginning of Round 2 into Round 1 for the move.

ESPN's Dan Graziano reported on Get Up! Thursday that the Giants preferred Dart as their QB2 over Sanders.

Graziano also stated in a separate report that there were "speculative connections" between Dart and the Browns and Los Angeles Rams. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler added connections between Dart and the Giants, New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers.

In the end, Dart landed with New York, who now looks to him as the quarterback of the future.
