Colston Loveland, Bears Agree to 4-Year, $26.7M Contract After 2025 NFL Draft

One of the Chicago Bears' new offensive weapons is officially a member of the team.

Chicago and tight end Colston Loveland agreed to a four-year, fully guaranteed $26.64 million contract with a $16.01 million signing bonus, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The Bears selected the Michigan product with the No. 10 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft, which put him in line to earn a notable rookie deal. In the days after the draft, Spotrac projected Loveland's rookie contract to be four years and $26.6 million with a $16 million signing bonus.

It underscored the importance of going in the top 10, as fellow tight end Tyler Warren was projected to land a four-year, $20.9 million deal with an $11.9 million signing bonus after the Indianapolis Colts selected him with the No. 14 overall pick.

That Loveland went before Warren and in the top 10, especially to a team that already had Cole Kmet, may have been a surprise to some, but he was an impressive playmaker during his time with the Wolverines.

He helped lead them to the College Football Playoff national championship with 649 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2023 before posting 56 catches for 582 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games during the 2024 campaign.

B/R's NFL Scouting Department ranked him as the best tight end heading into the draft. It also listed him as the best receiver and the one who was most pro ready at his position.

Loveland's pro-readiness will immediately be put to the test as part of a team that is loaded with offensive weapons. In addition to Loveland in the first round, the Bears selected Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III in the second round of the draft.

The duo joined a group of skill-position players that already included DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, D'Andre Swift and Kmet with quarterback Caleb Williams poised to perhaps take a significant jump in his second season in the league.

Throw in offensive-minded head coach Ben Johnson and a revamped offensive line, and there's no reason to expect anything other than an impressive point-scoring unit in the Windy City.

With opposing defenses focusing on Moore, Odunze, Kmet and perhaps Burden, Loveland figures to see plenty of single coverage during his rookie campaign. If he can take advantage of it, he can be one of the most impactful first-year players in the league.

And that will also help Loveland live up to the expectations that come with this rookie contract.
