Tyler Warren Reportedly Got Prank Draft Call During Jets Pick, Same Number as Shedeur

Zach BacharApr 27, 2025

New Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren reportedly received a prank call while waiting for his name to be called in the 2025 NFL draft.

According to Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz, Warren received the call when the New York Jets were on the clock at No. 7. He was eventually selected by the Colts with the No. 14 pick.

Shedeur Sanders also dealt with a prank call during the draft before the Cleveland Browns picked him up in the fifth round.

Warren’s camp believes his call was the "same number and/or area code" as Sanders' was, per Schultz.

ESPN's Stephen Holder reported that there are "believed to be others" that received prank calls during the draft as well.

Sanders revealed that he was given a private phone for the draft and the number was only given to NFL personnel, via ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that the league is investigating the prank call that the quarterback received. It's unknown if Warren's call will also be part of the investigation.

The tight end is coming off a breakout senior season at Penn State, hauling in 104 receptions for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns. Warren was also utilized as part of the Nittany Lions' rushing attack, picking up 218 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

He was listed as the No. 2 tight end and No. 15 overall prospect on the final big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department entering the draft.

B/R NFL Scout Dame Parson highlighted Warren's impact against zone coverage in his scouting report.

"Warren thrives against zone defenses," Parson wrote. "He is a former high school quarterback and understands the importance of finding soft spots within the defense. Warren settles into those soft spots as a big weapon for his quarterback to target."

While the 22-year-old may have received a prank call while the Jets were on the clock, he'll be heading to Indianapolis instead.

Warren will look to provide a boost to a Colts team that ranked No. 25 in passing offense last season.
