Shedeur Sanders Prank Callers to be Investigated by NFL amid Viral Video
The NFL is reportedly investigating the prank call Shedeur Sanders received as he slid to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft.
As Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk explained, Sanders—who was eventually drafted in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns—said he received a phone directly from the NFL to use during the draft.
Yet video was released online of prank callers reaching out to Sanders claiming to be New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis.

"If Shedeur’s version is accurate, it means someone connected to the league or one of its teams mishandled the information regarding the number," Florio wrote Sunday. "That opened the door for someone to get it and use it.
"A league spokesperson tells PFT that the NFL will be looking into it."
ESPN's Adam Schefter also reported the NFL is looking into the situation.
Sanders was asked about the prank call after the Browns drafted him and said, "Of course I feel like it was a childish act, but everybody does childish things here and there," per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
Notably, Sanders revealed on his podcast (10:34 mark) ahead of Thursday's draft that his personal phone number had been leaked.
"My number got leaked again, guys," Sanders said. "So now I don't know how I'm going to get my call for the draft. … I don't know how I'll be able to get the draft-day call."
The prank call was part of the entire Sanders storyline, which overshadowed much of the NFL draft. After all, it wasn't that long ago many saw him as a surefire first-rounder and someone who was likely to be one of the first picks of the draft.
Instead, storylines started to emerge as Thursday approached that he could fall in the draft.
Still, falling all the way to the third day and fifth round of the event is something few, if any, envisioned happening. Teams often take quarterbacks earlier than expected given the overall importance of the position, but Sanders instead plummeted to the fifth round to a Browns team that had already drafted Oregon's Dillon Gabriel.
Perhaps Sanders will eventually outplay his draft position and put the entire discourse behind him.
But it is a major storyline for now and will continue being one as the NFL investigates the prank call.
