Roman Reigns, CM Punk and Seth Rollins clashed in a memorable Triple Threat main event on Night 1 of WrestleMania 41 over the weekend, but the WWE creative team reportedly considered multiple ideas before deciding on that match.

According to Fightful Select (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), plans for Reigns and Punk, as well as other top stars such as Seth Rollins and Gunther were "in flux" in the months prior to WrestleMania.

Multiple different WrestleMania matches were reportedly pitched for those Superstars before deciding on the Triple Threat, as well as Gunther defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Royal Rumble winner Jey Uso.

That report supports screenshots that have made the rounds on social media over the past couple of days from the upcoming Netflix series WWE: Unreal.

Per Steve Carrier of Ringside News, a shot of a whiteboard appeared to show multiple proposed WrestleMania matches, including Punk vs. Rollins vs. Gunther.

Instead, Punk and Rollins were moved into a Triple Threat with Reigns, and the build to that clearly kicked into high gear at Royal Rumble when all three of them brawled.

Although WWE may not have had full conviction in the idea of Reigns vs. Punk vs. Rollins at first, it turned out to be among the best matches of the weekend.

It also featured arguably the best and most shocking moment of WrestleMania with Paul Heyman turning on both Reigns and Punk to align himself with Rollins.

On Raw, Bron Breakker was revealed as an ally of Rollins and Heyman, perhaps setting the stage for a tag team match of Reigns and Punk against Rollins and Breakker next month at Backlash.

Lynch Reportedly Masterminded Her Own WrestleMania Return

Becky Lynch's WrestleMania 41 return and subsequent heel turn the next night on Raw was reportedly her idea.

According to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live (h/t WrestleTalk), Lynch came up with the plan to be Lyra Valkyria's mystery partner at WrestleMania, beating Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships, before dropping them back to Liv and Raquel the next night.

Becky reportedly also was the architect of the plan to turn heel by attacking Valkyria after the loss to Morgan and Rodriguez on Raw.

Originally, Valkyria and Bayley were supposed to challenge Morgan and Rodriguez at WrestleMania, but Bayley was taken out by a mystery attacker on WrestleMania Saturday.

With Bayley unable to compete, Valkyria needed a partner, and her fellow Irishwoman in Lynch arrived on Night 2 of WrestleMania.

It marked the first on-screen appearance for Lynch in WWE since losing a steel cage match to Morgan on the May 27, 2024, episode of Raw.

Lynch's contract expired shortly thereafter, but she eventually re-signed, and there has been speculation for months regarding when and how she would return.

Showing up on the Grandest Stage of Them All was one of the most impactful ways possible to re-enter the fold, and following it up with a heel turn on the women's intercontinental champion suggests The Man should be a featured player in the women's division moving forward.

Orlando Reportedly Set to Make WrestleMania Host Bid

The city of Orlando, Florida, is reportedly planning to submit a bid to host WrestleMania 47 in 2031.

According to Ryan Lynch of the Orlando Business Journal (h/t Sports Business Journal), the Orange County Commissioners voted Tuesday in favor of distributing $18 million in an effort to "draw four future events from the WWE and UFC," including WrestleMania in 2031.

WrestleMania has twice taken place in Orlando, as WrestleMania 24 in 2008 and WrestleMania 33 in 2017 emanated from the city.

On both occasions, WrestleMania was held at Camping World Stadium, which was previously known as the Florida Citrus Bowl.

WWE is coming off a financially successful WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas this past weekend, and next year's WrestleMania 42 will be hosted by New Orleans.

A future WrestleMania is ticketed for Indianapolis as well, although it isn't yet known when that will happen.

Given the enormity of WrestleMania and the positive economic impact it has on the host city throughout the week, it has become commonplace for prospective hosts to make their pitches to the WWE brass.

Since Orlando is a destination city that has successfully hosted WrestleMania in the past, it is likely just a matter of time before it hosts another.
