WWE Rumors: Becky Lynch's WrestleMania Pitch Revealed and Latest on Contract, Return

Becky Lynch was reportedly pitched an idea for a match at WrestleMania 41, but it never came to fruition.

According to Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), the WWE creative team presented an WrestleMania idea to Lynch back in January that would have seen her compete in a multi-person match on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Sapp is unsure if it would have been a Triple Threat, Fatal 4-Way or tag team match, but it would not have been a singles bout.

The plans didn't come to fruition, and Sapp noted that Lynch isn't interested in "lazy booking" and wants to be involved with "something inspired" when she ultimately does return.

After dropping the Women's World Championship to Liv Morgan back in May 2024, Lynch's WWE contract expired on June 1, per Fightful Select (h/t Sean Rueter of Cageside Seats).

That officially made The Man a free agent, but in January, Fightful Select (h/t SI.com's Zack Heydorn) reported that she had re-signed with WWE on a new deal.

Sapp reported this week that Lynch is indeed under contract with WWE and has been for "at least four or five" months, but she hasn't been brought to television events during that time.

There was a ton of speculation that Big Time Becks would be on the debut episode of Raw on Netflix in January or a surprise entrant in the women's Royal Rumble in February, but her hiatus has continued.

Given that much of the WrestleMania 41 card has likely already been determined for months, involving Lynch may have been easier said than done.

By holding her off, WWE has more options at its disposal, such as having her make a surprise appearance this weekend at WrestleMania, or on the post-WrestleMania episode of Raw, which is always ripe for returns and debuts.

Lynch's return is going to be a massive moment for WWE given her popularity, so it is imperative for all parties involved to ensure it is done right for maximum impact.
