Roman Reigns Talks WWE Future, Says He Has 'Year or 2 Max' After Current Contract Ends
Ahead of another WrestleMania main event, Roman Reigns is starting to think about his future outside of pro wrestling.
Speaking to Tom Kludt of Vanity Fair, Reigns said he's "probably got another year or two max" after his current contract expires.
Kludt noted Reigns' current deal runs through WrestleMania next year, so the timeline would have him retiring from in-ring competition in 2028 or 2029. He will turn 40 on May 25.
The OTC already has what could easily be classified as one of the best deals in wrestling today. He signed his current contract in 2022, which also included a reduced number of dates.
While Reigns has never specified how many dates are included on the deal, he has only wrestled 19 matches since the start of 2023.
WWE typically saves Reigns' matches for premium live events, though there are some exceptions for special television shows. For example, he defeated Solo Sikoa in a Tribal Combat match on the Jan. 6 episode of Raw that was the show's debut on Netflix.
The Sikoa bout was Reigns' first television match since Dec. 30, 2022.
As for what will come for Reigns after his wrestling career ends, he tends to fully pursue acting even though it might look very different than what his cousin, The Rock, has done with his career.
"I almost want to model it after Tarantino, where we’re not just doing anything and everything. I want to really plot out: I want this one, I want that one," Reigns told Kludt
Reigns has dabbled in acting when he has a break from WWE. He appeared with The Rock in 2019's Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and will have a role in the upcoming Eddie Murphy film The Pickup.
Before getting to the end of his career, though, Reigns has business to take care of this weekend. He will be main-eventing night one of WrestleMania 41 in a triple-threat match against CM Punk and Seth Rollins.
