Triple H Talks John Cena's Heel Turn, WWE Hall of Fame Induction, More on Jimmy Fallon

Mike ChiariApr 9, 2025

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night to discuss several topics, including John Cena's heel turn, his own upcoming induction into the WWE Hall of Fame and WrestleMania 41.

On the subject of WrestleMania, Triple H expressed excitement regarding the show, noting, "They say everything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but with us everything that happens in Vegas that weekend will be heard worldwide."

The Night 2 main event of WrestleMania 41 will see WWE champion Cody Rhodes put his title on the line against John Cena, who shocked the pro wrestling world by attacking Rhodes and turning heel at Elimination Chamber last month.

Triple H provided some insight into Cena's heel turn, alluding to the hard work the 16-time world champion is putting in to become a hated villain after more than two decades as a babyface:

"The challenge on this is he's in his retirement run. ... So he's kind of got this year as his farewell, and he came back and turned into a bad guy. In our business, he turned heel. ... It's amazing to see that transformation of John from like the most beloved character in WWE to just Darth Vader. They hate him, and he's working very hard to make them hate him."

If Cena beats Rhodes at WrestleMania, he will make history by becoming a 17-time world champ, breaking his tie with WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair for the all-time record.

Regarding the Hall of Fame, Triple H is technically already part of it as a member of D-Generation X, but during WrestleMania 41 weekend in Las Vegas, The Game will be inducted individually as well.

Triple H noted that he had no desire to put himself into the Hall of Fame while running the show creatively for WWE, which is why his colleagues had to get creative.

During a WWE town hall meeting in January, Hall of Famers Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker surprised Triple H with the news of his induction, all of which was orchestrated by WWE President Nick Khan:

Triple H told Fallon how important it was to him for Michaels and Taker to be the people who broke the news to him, saying: "To have it be done that way by two guys, one is my best friend and The Undertaker is one of the biggest legends and one of the guys I respect the most in this industry, it's very, very meaningful."

Michelle McCool, Lex Luger and The Natural Disasters will join Triple H as 2025 WWE Hall of Fame inductees with the ceremony taking place the night of April 18 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas' BleauLive Theater.

That will be followed by Night 1 of WrestleMania 41 on April 19 and Night 2 on April 20, both of which will be held at the Las Vegas Raiders' Allegiant Stadium.
