NFL Exec Says Shedeur Sanders' Colorado Pro Day Performance 'Matched the Tape'
Shedeur Sanders' performance during his pro day at Colorado was believed to be similar to his career under center with the Buffaloes.
“It matched the tape [in my opinion]," an AFC executive told Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer. "Started a little slow, but then got in a rhythm. Ball placement was good overall. Never had a wow arm on intermediate or shorter stuff, he threw a better ball on deep throws—tighter and it comes out with more velocity.”
With Friday's pro day in the rearview mirror, Sanders is expected to be one of the first quarterbacks off the board in the 2025 NFL draft.

The 22-year-old showcased his deep accuracy at Colorado's pro day. He finished 58-of-63 with three dropped passes overall, according to Shrine Bowl Director of Operations Eric Galko.
Fourteen members of the New York Giants as well as "at least" 11 members of the Cleveland Browns were in attendance and watched Sanders, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. This included Giants general manager Joe Schoen and Browns general manager Andrew Berry.
Cleveland and New York own the No. 2 and No. 3 overall picks in the 2025 draft, respectively.
Sanders wrapped up an impressive senior season in 2024, earning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors and finishing No. 8 in Heisman Trophy voting.
In 13 games, he completed 74 percent of his passes for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions. He also found the end zone four times on the ground.
Sanders was projected to head to the Browns at No. 2 in the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.
He may not have blown past expectations with his pro day finish, but he also didn't appear to hurt his draft stock either.
The first round of the 2025 NFL draft will begin on April 24.
