Yankees Reportedly Sign Adam Ottavino to New Contract After RHP Elected Free Agency
After electing for free-agency on Sunday, the New York Yankees are re-signing right-handed pitcher Adam Ottavino to join the team for Monday's game against Detroit, per SNY's Andy Martino.
Ottavino signed with the Yankees on April 1 but was designated for assignment on April 4. He pitched in two games, allowing no hits, two strikeouts and two walks over 1.1 innings.
Ottavino made his MLB debut with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2010, pitching 22 1/3 innings but spent the following years bouncing between the majors and minors until he signed with the Colorado Rockies in 2012 as part of their bullpen.

During his seven seasons in Colorado, Ottavino stood out by consistently delivering strong performances at Coors Field, posting a 3.41 ERA and a 3.42 FIP in 390 2/3 innings.
In 2019, Ottavino signed a three-year deal with the Yankees, making 73 appearances and posting a 1.90 ERA while boasting a 31.1 percent strikeout rate. However, he struggled in 2020, marking his first below-average ERA since his time in Colorado.
Ottavino was traded to the Boston Red Sox in 2021, where he posted a 4.21 ERA, before returning to New York in 2022 with the Mets.
After his stint with the Mets, Ottavino, at 39 years old, pitched for the Red Sox during spring training this season but was released after failing to make the final roster.
Initially, when Ottavino was designated for assignment, the Yankees reinstated closer Devin Williams from the paternity list in a corresponding move.
