WWE Reaction to Charlotte, Tiffany Promo Reportedly Revealed Amid Off-Script Rumors

Mike ChiariApr 5, 2025

There was reportedly a strong backstage reaction in WWE to the much-talked-about promo battle between WWE women's champion Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair on Friday night's episode of SmackDown.

According to Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), the segment was a "hot topic" of discussion backstage with members of the WWE roster believing the barbs they traded were unscripted.

One WWE Superstar who hadn't yet seen the exchange asked Sapp if it was "real or fanfic," while others reportedly expressed their opinion that it was "messy."

Seemingly empowered by the Chicago crowd cheering her and thunderously booing Charlotte, Tiffany went on the offensive Friday night.

Stratton suggested that her WrestleMania 41 opponent will always be overshadowed by her father, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, and she also made mention of Charlotte's three divorces, saying she is "0-3" when it comes to her love life.

Tiffany slid out of the ring after that comment, prompting Charlotte to respond, "Is that why Kaiser's in my DMs?"

That was in reference to Raw Superstar Ludwig Kaiser, who is Stratton's real-life boyfriend.

Kaiser later responded on X with a video clip of Shawn Michaels that suggested there was no truth to what Flair said:

Sapp's report regarding what occurred on SmackDown largely echoed a previous report by WrestleVotes, who wrote on X: "Charlotte and Tiffany said very little of what was in the rundown for them. Off script quite a bit."

Friday's segment was a follow-up to last week when Charlotte and Tiffany had a war of words while seated at different locations.

It seemed to be a sink-or-swim moment for Stratton, as she struggled to respond to some of Flair's comments, prompting speculation that Charlotte may have departed from the script on that occasion as well.

Fightful Select (h/t Mukherjee) reported that WWE officials viewed that particular segment as a case of Flair "handling business," and it was also said that Charlotte already had her responses planned beforehand.

Tiffany came out of that exchange looking lesser than Charlotte, but she was clearly more prepared to get the better of Charlotte on Friday, whether it was scripted or not.

The uncertainty surrounding how real everything that happened on SmackDown actually was could turn out to be a great thing for Flair, Stratton and WWE as a whole since it figures to increase interest in their WWE Women's Championship match at WrestleMania later this month.
