Kenny Omega Retains AEW International Title vs. Ricochet, Mike Bailey at 2025 Dynasty
Kenny Omega defeated Ricochet and "Speedball" Mike Bailey in a three-way match at AEW Dynasty on Sunday to retain the International Championship.
This was a great match with some notable highlights, including Ricochet flipping Bailey onto Omega.
Ricochet certainly had his moments in this match. Later on, he took out both Omega and Bailey and put on a headset to chat about it.
However, all three wrestlers had their moments. Omega later threw a V-Trigger party.
Bailey got in on the action, like when he used the Karate Kid crane kick to knock down Ricochet.
The closing sequence started with all three men fighting on one of the turnbuckles. Omega, who was nearest the center of the ring, then hit Ricochet with an Avalanche One-Winged Angel. In the commotion, Bailey got stuck upside down in the ropes and was unable to break up the pin.
Before returning to beat Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty back in January, Omega missed just over one year of action due to diverticulitis.
It was unclear how the time away would impact Omega and his in-ring ability, but he and Kidd proverbially tore the house down, and he has continued to perform at a high level ever since.
Last month at Revolution, Omega challenged Konosuke Takeshita for the international title in a match that had been about a year and a half in the making.
Takeshita upset Omega at All Out in September 2023, and while Omega did team with Chris Jericho to beat Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher the following month on Dynamite, Omega was never truly able to get his revenge.
That changed at Revolution when Omega got the better of Takeshita and won his first AEW singles title since dropping the AEW World Championship in November 2021.
AEW moved quickly to determine a No. 1 contender for Omega after he became international champion, setting up a four-way match between Ricochet, Bailey, Mark Davis and Orange Cassidy on the March 19 episode of Dynamite.
Ricochet and Bailey managed to pin Davis at the same time, which resulted in both of them being granted a title opportunity against Omega at Dynasty.
Both Ricochet and Bailey are relatively new on the scene in AEW, as Ricochet debuted last year at All In, and Speedball arrived last month.
They each entered Dynasty in search of their first championship in AEW, but they were tasked with taking down arguably the company's all-time biggest star to do so.
Although Ricochet and Bailey acquitted themselves well, Omega emerged victorious in his first title defense.
