Latest WWE WrestleMania 41 Rumors on Potential Card and Top Superstars
On the road to WrestleMania 41, the pro wrestling rumor mill is red-hot, with insiders churning out reports regarding top Superstars and matches on a daily basis.
One such a report involves former WWE women's champion Bayley and her protege, former NXT women's champion Roxanne Perez, and the match that appeared to be a certainty for the big show but has grown cold in recent weeks.
What is the latest on a potential showdown in Las Vegas between The Role Model and The Prodigy and what other rumors are emerging ahead of this year's Showcase of the Immortals?
Let's take a look.
Update on Bayley vs. Roxanne Perez
1 of 3
Despite a creative direction that appeared to have the two on a collision course ahead of WrestleMania 41, fans should not expect to see Bayley and Roxanne Perez square off at the Showcase of the Immortals.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that there has not been discussion of the match for weeks now.
Add to that recent booking that hints at a potential Women's Tag Team Championship program between The Judgment Day's Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez and the tandem of Bayley and women's intercontinental champion Lyra Valkyria, and you have even more reason to believe the less-forced "mentor vs. protege" match-up will not be taking place in Las Vegas.
It is an interesting creative about-face in that the story seemed to write itself and the women involved had obvious in-ring chemistry. They likely would have delivered in whichever match-up they wrestled.
Perhaps the decision was made to give that eventual showdown more time to build or WWE officials simply decided Perez would be better served to make her official main roster debut after WrestleMania.
Whatever the case, it feels like a significant match-up that would have been better served on a grand stage given the weeks of hype it already had, both on main roster programming and in NXT.
Karrion Kross in Contract Year
2 of 3
Though he may not have a match slated for this year's WrestleMania, Karrion Kross' presence has been felt across several high-profile storylines.
The former NXT champion has been the proverbial "devil on the shoulder" of many a WWE Superstar, hinting at and laying the groundwork for some of the biggest matches and moments in the company through cryptic promos and backstage vignettes.
The question is whether he will continue being that devil for WWE as Sapp reported that Kross is in his contract year with the company. He wrote, "We've heard his deal is currently set to expire in the Summer, but are working to confirm that. We've not yet heard if he's actively negotiating a new deal."
Sapp added that WWE officials have been more than pleased with Kross' work over the last year. "Those we've spoken to in WWE of late have been ecstatic with Kross' ability to get himself over with social media and the angles he's been in on Raw."
When that ability to get over will translate into a sustained program on television, including the opportunity to work in the ring, is anyone's guess but one would have to expect it to happen at some point after WrestleMania.
The former NXT champion has long had Triple H's support as he and wife, Scarlett, were among the first rehired by the current Chief Content Officer when he assumed power back in the summer of 2022.
Whether that translates into an easier negotiating process so that Kross' long-term future with the company can be secured remains to be seen.
Drew McIntyre Update
3 of 3
Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com reported that while Drew McIntyre did have something removed from his eye following the backstage angle in which Damian Priest choke slammed him through the windshield of a car, it was not what it was originally believed to be.
"After speaking with additional WWE sources upon their return to the United States, we are told that while McIntyre did receive treatment to have something cleared from his eye after the angle at the scene, it was determined that was removed was not glass," the insider wrote.
Johnson added that McIntyre was wearing an eye patch backstage after the angle and the former WWE champion posted a photo of himself and his cat on social media wearing it.
Thankfully, it does not appear as though McIntyre will miss any time. The Scottish Warrior has been on a collision course with Priest, who eliminated him at Royal Rumble, pinned him at Elimination Chamber, and has prevented him from competing for the WWE title at WrestleMania.
Their rivalry has intensified in recent weeks and will likely culminate in a match in Las Vegas, though one has not officially been announced at this time.
