5 Draft-Day Trade Packages for Tyreek Hill amid Speculation About His Future

Moe MotonApr 3, 2025

Since the end of the 2024 season, Tyreek Hill's future with the Miami Dolphins has come into question because of his comments. In a series of posts on X, he stirred the pot again.

The 31-year-old responded to recent trade speculation with emojis. Either he did a good job of trolling, or something could be brewing behind the scenes. After his posts, he denied a rumor from a non-credible aggregate account, calling the trade buzz "another false narrative."

After Miami's season finale, Hill said, "I'm out, bro" when talking to reporters. Through his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, he walked back those comments, which quelled speculation.

Hill had a chance to extinguish lingering trade buzz around his name, and yet he chose to fan the flames before dismissing a rumor.

On the one hand, Dolphins general manager Chris Grier told reporters that Hill hasn't requested a trade. Head coach Mike McDaniel hopes to have a "better version" of the wideout in 2025.

However, when asked about a notable draft-night trade candidate, Jason Fitzgerald of Over the Cap mentioned Hill.

With all the smoke around Hill, let's look at five draft-day trade packages involving the five-time All-Pro receiver.

Dallas Cowboys

Dak Prescott

Dallas Cowboys Receive: WR Tyreek Hill, 2025 5th-Round Pick (No. 155 Overall Pick)

Miami Dolphins Receive: 2025 2nd-Round Pick (No. 44 Overall Pick), 2026 4th-Round Pick

Last offseason, the Dallas Cowboys signed Dak Prescott to a four-year, $240 million deal, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history in terms of annual salary.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones can make a bold move to help out his most valuable player in the short term. Prescott is coming off a shortened campaign because of a hamstring injury, and he could bounce back in a big way with a dynamic receiver duo that features CeeDee Lamb and Hill.

After restructuring his contract, Lamb acknowledged he cannot lead Dallas to wins alone. The star wideout would likely welcome another established receiver who can take some of the coverage away from him downfield.

Last year, Jalen Tolbert made strides as the Cowboys' No. 2 receiver with backup quarterback Cooper Rush under center for eight starts, catching 49 passes for 610 yards and seven touchdowns.

However, Tolbert isn't on the same tier as Hill, who's still a dynamic deep threat. With this addition, Prescott can post MVP-level passing numbers and be the runaway favorite to win 2025 Comeback Player of the Year.

Dallas has $34.6 million in cap space, so it should be able to absorb Hill's $27.7 million cap hit for 2025 and sign Micah Parsons to an extension.

Green Bay Packers

Romeo Doubs

Green Bay Packers Receive: WR Tyreek Hill, 2025 5th-Round Pick (No. 156 Overall Pick)

Miami Dolphins Receive: WR Romeo Doubs, 2025 3rd-Round Pick (No. 87 Overall Pick), 2026 4th-Round Pick

During an interview with 97.3 The Game, running back Josh Jacobs discussed the need for the Green Bay Packers to add a No. 1 wide receiver. Well, they can check that box by acquiring Hill.

Usually conservative in their roster-building approach, the Packers must make a splashy move to compete with the teams in the NFC and open their Super Bowl window. Remember, the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings swept them, and they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles last year.

Green Bay has a solid receiver unit, but Jayden Reed led the group with 55 catches and 857 yards, finishing second on the team in touchdown receptions (six) for the season. For comparison, Hill played through the 2024 campaign with a torn ligament in his wrist, and he caught 81 passes for 959 yards and six touchdowns.

Last offseason, the Packers signed quarterback Jordan Love to a four-year, $220 million extension. The front office can aid his early development in a full-time starting role with a splashy move for a big-time playmaker.

Frustrated with his role in a crowded receiver group, Doubs may want a change of scenery for a more significant target share in Miami.

Las Vegas Raiders

Tre Tucker

Las Vegas Raiders Receive: WR Tyreek Hill, 2025, 5th-Round Pick (No. 151 Overall Pick), 2026 5th-Round Pick

Miami Dolphins Receive: 2025 3rd-Round Pick (No. 68 Overall), 2026 3rd-Round Pick, WR Tre Tucker

The Las Vegas Raiders already made a bold move for quarterback Geno Smith. Why stop there with a need at wide receiver?

Raiders general manager John Spytek values his draft picks, so he would probably negotiate an even pick swap in a deal for Hill. Nonetheless, he should consider acquiring the dynamic wideout for a big-play boost to the team's passing attack.

Last season, tight end Brock Bowers racked up all-time rookie receiving numbers. Jakobi Meyers registered career highs in catches (87) and receiving yards (1,027) as the team's No. 1 wideout following Davante Adams' trade request and departure.

However, Bowers and Meyers averaged less than 12 yards per catch. Tucker has the speed to make chunk plays through the air, but he's been the No. 3 option over the last two years.

The Raiders can bring in Hill as an upgrade over Tucker to field a more explosive offense with Smith's ability to sling the ball accurately downfield. Because head coach Mike McDaniel emphasizes offensive speed, he may want Tucker in a deal.

Los Angeles Chargers

Mike Williams

Los Angeles Chargers Receive: WR Tyreek Hill, 2025 5th-Round Pick (No. 156 Overall Pick)

Miami Dolphins Receive: 2025 2nd-Round Pick (No. 55 Overall Pick), 2026 4th-Round Pick

In free agency, the Los Angeles Chargers signed wide receiver Mike Williams, who has a rapport with quarterback Justin Herbert. They played together between 2020 and 2023.

That said, Williams will turn 31 in October. In 2023, he missed 14 games because of a torn ACL and didn't play more than 53 percent of the offensive snaps with the New York Jets or Pittsburgh Steelers last season.

At this stage in his career, Williams may be more effective with fewer snaps. That's why Los Angeles should pursue Hill, who's still performing at his peak.

Furthermore, the Chargers lost Joshua Palmer in free agency. Quentin Johnston has struggled with drops over the last two years, sometimes in crucial situations.

Hill would fill a void and take full advantage of his target share as a complement to wideout Ladd McConkey.

Washington Commanders

NFC Divisional Playoffs: Washington Commanders v Detroit Lions
Terry McLaurin

Washington Commanders Receive: WR Tyreek Hill, 2025 7th-Round Pick (Overall Pick No. 253)

Miami Dolphins Receive: 2025 2nd-Round Pick (No. 61 Overall Pick), 2025 6th-Round Pick (Overall Pick No. 206)

As quarterback Jayden Daniels enters the second year of his rookie deal, the Washington Commanders can load up on his supporting cast.

They acquired wideout Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers, and they have enough cap space ($26.3 million) to make another move at the position.

Remember that Samuel saw a significant drop-off in his receiving numbers after his 2021 Pro Bowl campaign. Though he offers versatility out of the backfield, he's been a No. 2 or 3 option in the 49ers' passing offense.

Terry McLaurin and Hill can be a nightmare tandem for opposing defenders. Both can attack all three levels of the field, though the latter provides unmatched speed on the perimeter.

With Hill in the fold, Daniels could let it rip a lot more downfield for back-breaking plays that put opponents away in close matchups.
