There had been rumblings in recent weeks that the Natural Disasters were going to be part of the 2025 class that already includes Triple H, Lex Luger and Michelle McCool.
Earthquake (John Tenta Jr.) and Typhoon (Fred Ottman) debuted in WWE as a tag team known as the Natural Disasters in the summer of 1991. Their first big event as a duo was at SummerSlam of that year when they defeated the Bushwhackers.
Later in the year, Earthquake and Typhoon engaged in a feud with the Legion of Doom for the tag team titles. The Natural Disasters did beat LOD at the 1992 Royal Rumble, but the titles didn't change hands since the victory came via countout.
After a babyface turn prior to WrestleMania VIII, the Natural Disasters won the tag titles for the first time by defeating the Money Inc. duo of Ted DiBiase and Irwin R. Schyster at a house show on July 10, 1992.
Their first—and only—reign with the WWE tag titles ended three months later when DiBiase and Schyster beat them in a rematch at a television taping.
WWE seemed to be building to a feud between Earthquake and Typhoon in early 1993 when Earthquake eliminated his partner from the Royal Rumble match. The feud never came to fruition because Earthquake left the promotion for most of the year before returning for another brief run in 1994.
Typhoon also left WWE in 1993 and joined WCW shortly afterward, but his run there ended almost as quickly as it began because he was brought in as the Shockmaster in an infamous skit that turned into a disaster at Clash of the Champions 24.
Earthquake will be a posthumous inductee, as he died in 2006 at the age of 42 due after being diagnosed with bladder cancer two years earlier. Typhoon is the uncle of Cody Rhodes and brother-in-law to WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes.
If WWE follows its recent pattern, there could be one more inductee announced for the Hall of Fame in the celebrity wing since they already have three individuals and now a group.
The 2025 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will be held at the theater in Fontainebleau Las Vegas on April 18 immediately after Friday Night SmackDown, which will be the go-home show for WrestleMania 41.
