Ole Miss set the tone early, taking an 11-point lead with just over seven minutes remaining in the first half and maintaining the same advantage at halftime. Head coach Chris Beard's squad opened the second half on a 23-13 run to keep the contest out of reach for Iowa State.
The Rebels put together a balanced scoring effort, as five players finished with double-digit point totals. They were led by senior guard Sean Pedulla, who scored 20 points and dished out eight assists while shooting 6-of-13 from the field.
Ole Miss' offensive output was especially impressive against an Iowa State team that allowed just 66.0 points per game over its prior four contests entering Sunday's action.
Fans were impressed with the performance from Beard and his team.
The SEC now has seven schools in the Sweet 16 with Ole Miss advancing, setting a new record for the most teams in the Sweet 16 from a single conference in March Madness history (h/t ESPN's Peter Burns).
Now, the Rebels will await the winner of Sunday's matchup between Michigan State and New Mexico to battle for a spot in the Elite Eight.
