In his return, James finished with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists, shooting 7-of-16 from the field. Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 34 points, eight rebounds and six assists on 8-of-13 shooting from the three-point line. Austin Reaves added 25 points.

On the opposing side, Coby White finished with 36 points, three rebounds and two steals for the Bulls. Matas Buzelis added 31 points, while Josh Giddey scored 15 points with 17 assists.

With this loss, the Lakers dropped to 43-27 on the season, falling to fourth place in the Western Conference behind the Denver Nuggets. The Bulls improved to 31-40 as they strive to remain in the final play-in positions.

The Lakers have lost six of their past ten games, with James missing a significant portion due to his groin injury.

Fans were disappointed with the team's defensive performance in James' return from injury.

Doncic started strong in the first quarter, shooting 5-of-8 from the field as the Lakers kept pace with the Bulls. White responded by hitting 6-of-8 shots, helping Chicago take a narrow 32-32 lead into the second.

Reaves opened the scoring for the Lakers in the second quarter with a 13-foot pull-up jumper off a James assist. He followed up with a 27-foot three-pointer, while Doncic closed the quarter with 12 points. Despite their efforts, Los Angeles entered halftime trailing by three.

White stayed hot for the Bulls in the third as they outscored the Lakers 39-27. James scored six in the quarter, while Doncic added five. With 6:42 remaining in the fourth and the Bulls holding a commanding 126-103 lead, the Lakers pulled their starters, allowing Chicago to close out the game with a 42-26 advantage in the final quarter.

The Lakers will look to bounce back as they begin a four-game road trip in Orlando against the Magic on Monday.
