
MLB News: Mark Canha Reportedly Traded to Royals from Brewers Before 2025 MLB Season
The Kansas City Royals have acquired Mark Canha from the Milwaukee Brewers for a player to be named later or cash, per Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
The Brewers signed Canha to a minor league deal on February 24 with an invitation to major league camp. Per Jesse Friedman of MLB.com, Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that Canha figured to fit in as a first baseman, designated hitter and pinch-hitter.
However, Canha is now a Royal less than one month later.

Canha struggled at the plate this postseason, managing just two hits in 23 at-bats for an .087 batting average. He did hit one homer and walked four times, contributing to a .250 on-base percentage.
Canha has played 10 MLB seasons, most notably for the Oakland Athletics from 2015-2021. He's since played for the New York Mets, Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants.
Last year, Canha hit .242 (.690 OPS) alongside seven home runs and 42 RBI. He ended the season well after Detroit traded him to San Francisco, where he hit .288 (.705 OPS) in 32 games.
For his career, Canha is a .249 hitter with a .763 OPS and 113 OPS+ alongside 120 home runs and 459 RBI. He also notably has a .349 OBP.
