Drake looked to be in danger of blowing a 15-point lead over their higher-seeded opponent as Mizzou launched a late comeback that brought the Tigers within four points of tying the game.

Ben McCollum's team responded with a seven-point run to hold off Missouri and claim the upset.

Drake is now through to the Round of 32 with a roster staffed by multiple players who followed McCollum from his former D2 roster at Northwest Missouri State.

The Bulldogs were led on Thursday night by former Northwest Missouri State standout Bennett Stirtz, who posted 21 points on 8-for-11 shooting (3-for-3 from deep) in the win.

Missouri shot just 33.3 percent from the field in the loss. The Tigers' season will now end with five defeats in the team's final six games.

Drake, which improves to 31-3 with the win, is set to face either No. 3 Texas Tech or No. 14 UNC Wilmington in the second round.

After leading Northwest Missouri State to four D2 titles between 2017 and 2022, McCollum will now get the chance to lead Drake into the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1971.
