Report: Myles Garrett's Browns Contract Details Revealed; $1.3M Base Salary in 2025

Taylyn Hadley Mar 17, 2025

Myles Garrett’s new contract details with the Cleveland Browns have been revealed ahead of the 2025 season, per ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi.

The defensive end is set to receive a $1.3 million base salary, along with a $21.54 million signing bonus and $57.3 million guaranteed at signing.

In addition, he will have a fully guaranteed $29.2 million option bonus for the 2026 season, a $39.358 million option bonus in 2027 that becomes fully guaranteed on the third day of the 2026 league year and a $21.4 million option bonus in 2028 under the same terms.

The breakdown means only the first two seasons are fully guaranteed, with the team having future options on the contract.

The 30-year-old signed a four-year, $160 million extension with Cleveland on March 9 after finishing last season with 40 solo tackles, 14 sacks and three forced fumbles.

Despite his massive contract, which ranks second in total value among defensive ends, Garrett emphasized that "it has never been about money."

“I think I had some frustration. And you know, I feel like that helped us grow and have conversations that were difficult, but needed to be had,” Garrett told reporters. “I think the fans will see that my heart is in the right place. It has never been about money. It’s always been about winning. That’s where my frustration lies.”

The frustrations stem from Garrett and the Browns embarking on a month-long saga after he asked for a trade, saying he wanted to win a Super Bowl. However, despite his announcement, the team made it clear that trade offers for Garrett were not going to be entertained.

With the past behind him and Garrett's average salary set at $40 million, he is confident that he and Cleveland can move forward this season and put something solid together.

“I had some frustration and I feel like that helped us grow and have conversations (with Browns general manager Andrew Berry) that were difficult but needed to be had and that created a little bit more discourse, helped build some relationships and reaffirmed them,” Garrett continued. “Now I feel like we’re in a better place and now we can move on and grow from there."
