Cameron Boozer Among Finalists for 2024-25 Gatorade Boys Player of the Year Award
Cameron Boozer is set to carry on his family's legacy at Duke, but he is making a name for himself first.
Gatorade announced the three finalists for the 2024-2025 Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award on Thursday, and the son of former NBA player and Duke great Carlos Boozer was on the list.
Boozer was joined by Brayden Burries and Caleb Wilson as finalists for one of the most prestigious awards in high school basketball. The winner will join the likes of Jayson Tatum, Karl-Anthony Towns and Cooper Flagg, among others, as those who have been honored for their success on and off the court.

Wilson and Boozer are both senior power forwards, while Burries is the only guard who was named a finalist.
Burries is a 5-star prospect and the No. 11 overall player, No. 2 combo guard and No. 3 player from the state of California in the 2025 recruiting list, per 247Sports' composite rankings. He was a 2025 McDonald's All-American and recently broke the single-game Open Division final record in California with 44 points while leading Roosevelt to a win.
He remains uncommitted, although 247Sports lists Tennessee, Oregon, Alabama and Arizona as notable schools of interest.
As for Wilson, he was also a McDonald's All-American and a 5-star prospect. According to 247Sports' composite rankings, he is the No. 6 overall player, No. 3 power forward and No. 1 player from the state of Georgia in the 2025 class.
The power forward is heading to North Carolina and told ESPN in January, "I picked North Carolina because of their culture and the history of the program. They were my first blue blood [offer]. Last year I went to the Duke at UNC game. I was courtside and it was a great experience. It was everything I was looking for in a program."
That means he will be going up against Boozer in the biggest rivalry in college basketball.
Boozer is following in his father's footsteps with the Blue Devils and already has a resume that includes the 2022-23 Gatorade National Player of the Year and a spot on the 2025 McDonald's All-American team.
He is the No. 2 overall player and No. 1 power forward in the 2025 class, per 247Sports' composite rankings, and figures to be Duke's next star freshman after Flagg played that role this season.
The younger Boozer will have quite the footsteps to follow, as his father was a national champion, All-American and ACC tournament MVP during his time at Duke. He parlayed that into a lengthy NBA career that included stops with the Utah Jazz, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers.
While Cameron Boozer has the talent to one day be in the NBA as well, he is a Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award finalist for now.
