Report: Giants Eye Jameis Winston amid Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Browns Rumors

Free-agent quarterback Jameis Winston will meet with the New York Giants on Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Pelissero noted the Giants also have Joe Flacco and Russell Wilson on their radar, while ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Sunday they've made a "standing offer" to Aaron Rodgers.

The Cleveland Browns have acquired Kenny Pickett yet remain in the quarterback market. The Athletic's Zac Jackson downplayed their odds of landing Kirk Cousins but wrote "Wilson seems first on Cleveland’s list."

In addition to their competition for Wilson, it doesn't sound as though Rodgers is enamored with the idea of playing for the Giants. Michael Silver, Dianna Russini and Alec Lewis of The Athletic reported the four-time MVP is waiting to hear a yes or no from the Minnesota Vikings. Should their answer be no, he might choose to walk away from the NFL altogether.

Winston first entertained the idea of signing with New York during media day at Super Bowl LIX thanks to a comment from Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.

After Barkley suggested he join the G-Men, Winston told NJ Advance Media's Ryan Novozinsky he would "absolutely" sign there if presented with the opportunity. He said the Giants "have a young roster that’s ready to win" and are "ready to bounce back" from a 3-14 finish.

You pretty much know what you're getting with the 2015 Pro Bowler. He threw for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 12 appearances with the Browns last year.

The moments when Winston looks like a good quarterback are interspersed with some baffling decisions and wayward throws. That's never going to change.

If nothing else, the 31-year-old would be an upgrade as a backup for New York because Tommy DeVito is the only quarterback on the roster for the time being.
