Aaron Rodgers Rumors: Insider Texts 'Enigma' Dictionary Definition about QB's Timeline
People around the NFL remain in the dark about when quarterback Aaron Rodgers might sign with a new team, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Fowler reported Sunday on SportsCenter that Rodgers has "standing offers" from both the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants. Still, the four-time MVP is in no rush to make a final decision.
"I checked with the source from one of those teams about a timeline for Rodgers. I got back a text with the Webster's dictionary of the word enigma," Fowler said. "And so that's kind of the feeling right now. Teams are waiting this out, waiting on Rodgers. The feeling is there's not just a money consideration here. There's fit, there's surroundings, all those things."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The NFL insider added that the Minnesota Vikings remain a fringe contender to sign Rodgers but appear to be focusing more on second-year signal-caller J.J. McCarthy.
Whether Minnesota pulls out of the race for good could help determine whether Rodgers plays at all in 2025. The Athletic's Michael Silver, Dianna Russini and Alec Lewis reported on Saturday retirement is one possible pathway if the Vikings are no longer an option.
In February, Mike Sando of The Athletic spoke to an agent who suggested Rodgers "won't want the teams that will want him." That might actually be the case based on the newest reporting.
Any misgivings Rodgers may have about Pittsburgh or New York are understandable.
The Steelers acquired wide receiver DK Metcalf to fortify their receiving corps, but they've had a firm ceiling with head coach Mike Tomlin the last few years. They haven't advanced past the AFC Wild Card Round since 2017.
The Giants, meanwhile, haven't improved much through free agency after going 3-14 last season. Even if they add Rodgers, few will consider them a serious playoff threat.
Rodgers is a surefire Hall of Famer whose legacy is secured. His two-year run with the New York Jets wouldn't be a ideal way to wrap up a legendary career, but he has achieved everything he can as a player.
The idea of suiting up for a rebuilding team or one with long odds of reaching the Super Bowl probably isn't all that enticing.
