Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
ESPN's Dan Graziano reported that the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers were "begging" for the veteran passer to sign with them as they awaited his choice.
The New York Jetsย releasedย the 41-year-old on Wednesday, although the teamย announcedย it was moving on from him on Feb. 13.
ESPN'sย Jordan Raananย reported that a "resolution" regarding Rodgers and the Giants was expected on Wednesday, noting that the situation "does not appear to be a money thing" from New York's perspective.
The Steelers have also made an offer to the four-time MVP, according toย Gerry Dulacย of theย Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Per Dulac, the delay in Rodgers' talks with Pittsburgh is also "not about money."
The Giants and Steelers aren't the only teams with ties to the veteran, withย Dianna Russiniย of The Athletic revealing that the Minnesota Vikings are "seriously discussing" the idea of signing Rodgers afterย losingย 2024 starter Sam Darnold in free agency.
Rodgers was efficient in the pocket during his final year on the Jets, but he didn't look as sharp compared to the end of his tenure with the Green Bay Packers in which he won MVP honors in 2020 and 2021.
In 17 appearances with the Jets in 2024, Rodgers completed 63 percent of his passes for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions. New York finished with a record of just 5-12.
As possible suitors wait for Rodgers to make his final decision, he's still contemplating his options as a free agent.
