Video: DK Metcalf Announces Engagement to Girlfriend Normani After Trade to Steelers

A five-year, $150 million extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers isn't the only commitment recently made by wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Metcalf announced his engagement to his girlfriend, pop and R&B singer Normani, during his introductory press conference with the Steelers.

Metcalf went on to detail how the proposal took place.

"My family and her family was in Houston. It was my sister's Spring Break, and just thought about getting the whole family together for a big kumbaya, and joining our families with the ring," Metcalf said.

Metcalf continued: "I tried to last year, but she's a singer, and her work kind of conflicted with the schedule, so just tried to take an approach to where a schedule couldn't matter.

"So I started sending her flowers with a story, and then the last letter on the flower was, 'Will you marry me?' She said yes."

Metcalf said he was introduced to his fiancée in 2020 by former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and current free agent Russell Wilson and Wilson's wife, singer and songwriter Ciara.

"We hit it off from day one, and here we are," Metcalf said.

Metcalf added that Wilson had congratulated him on his engagement, but that the two had not discussed the quarterback's future. The Steelers have been connected to both Wilson and Aaron Rodgers amid the team's ongoing search for next season's starting quarterback.
