DK Metcalf to Wear No. 4 Steelers Jersey After Seahawks Trade as Pickens Keeps No. 14

Andrew PetersMar 13, 2025

It'll be new city, new number for DK Metcalf in 2025 as he suits up for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season.

After the Seattle Seahawks traded the wide receiver to Pittsburgh, the Steelers revealed that Metcalf will wear No. 4 for the black and gold and receiver George Pickens will keep his No. 14.

It will be quite the adjustment for Metcalf to play for a new team and wear a new number after the former second-round pick spent the first six years of his career in Seattle, racking up at least 900 receiving yards every year.

The Steelers are hoping the combination of Metcalf and Pickens can help the team get over the hump and advance past the wild-card round for the first time since 2017.

Pickens, a second-round pick in 2022, has had a good start to his career. He recorded a career-high 1,140 yards and five touchdowns in 2023 before racking up 900 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games last year.

Pickens will likely still be Pittsburgh's No. 1 option, but Metcalf should be a solid compliment to him.

The Steelers have their wide receivers for the 2025 season sorted out, but they still have to figure out who will be throwing passes to those receivers.

Free agent quarterback Justin Fields signed with the New York Jets earlier this week and now it seems Pittsburgh is down to either Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers.

The Steelers have offered Rodgers a contract and are now awaiting his response. If Rodgers opts to sign elsewhere, Pittsburgh would likely pivot to Russell, who was under center in 2024.

Whether Rodgers, Wilson or another quarterback, they will have a solid receiver duo in Metcalf and Pickens.
